Research is an important part of his career as this allows Dr. Welter to offer his patients at Regeneris Medical the best and latest Hair Restoration techniques available. Ryan Welter, M.D. PhD has been performing hair transplant surgeries and supervising non-surgical hair re-growth procedures since 2005. He is recognized worldwide as a leader and pioneer for his work with cellular and stem cell therapies for Hair Restoration.
Cellular Hair Restoration
Men and women with thinning hair or minimal areas of balding can halt the progression of hair loss and re-grow their own natural hair with one of these non-surgical procedures:
ACell: ACell with MatriStream technology is a granular powder derived from animal by-products. Doctors use ACell in a variety of surgical procedures to aid in healing and the regeneration of tissue. It also occurs naturally in your tissue layers. When Dr. Welter injects ACell into your scalp, it stimulates adult stem cells to prompt dormant hair follicles to start growing again.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy: Your blood cells naturally contain platelet rich plasma with the nutrients and growth factors necessary to stimulate the hair follicles. Dr. Welter obtains a small blood sample from you, places it in a centrifuge to isolate the platelets, and then mixes it with solution and a small amount of whole blood before injecting it into your scalp.
Stromal Vascular Faction (SVF): With the SVF procedure, Dr. Welter performs a mini lipo-suction to retrieve stem cells from your abdomen. He then places the stem cells in a tube to isolate the Mesenchymal cells that stimulate hair follicle production. Like the other procedures, this involves receiving an injection in the scalp after Ryan Welter, M.D., PhD has provided you with a numbing anesthetic.
Dr. Welter sometimes combines these therapies or uses them after a hair transplant surgery to ensure the best hair re-growth results for his patients.
Medical Hair Restoration
Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) emits light energy on your scalp that travels to the cells of your hair follicles. The increased nutrition and blood flow enables the follicles to grow after a long period of lying dormant. With LLLT, Dr. Welter provides you with a cap to wear for approximately 30 minutes up to three times a week.
Surgical Hair Restoration
The following surgeries offer excellent results for men with moderate to severe balding due to male pattern baldness:
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE): During FUE, Dr. Welter extracts individual hair follicles containing between one and four hairs each with a one-millimeter circular punch. He carefully transplants the follicles using the microFUE process that he created. This involves using maximum precision to place the follicles in rows based on the number of hairs they contain.
Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT): FUT also involves transferring hair follicles from the back to the top of the scalp. However, Ryan Welter, M.D., PhD uses the strip donor technique rather than extracting each hair follicle individually. That means that he cuts a small strip of skin from the back of the scalp and immediately sutures the wound. He then extracts the healthiest hair follicles to prepare for transplant.
FUE and FUT both produce a fuzzy new hair growth within a few weeks. This quickly falls out in preparation for the permanent hair to come in approximately four to six months after surgery. FUE is also available for eyelash and eyebrow transplants.
